Could a modern author construct the TJ?
Yes, plausibly, with sustained planning and revision. That is not proof that a particular person did so. The Talmud Jmmanuel has connected narrative architecture and worthwhile teachings, as well as unresolved difficulties. This test does not warrant the conclusion that it could not be a modern construction.
Modern composition or substantial modern adaptation remains the better-supported working explanation on the reviewed record, with moderate qualitative confidence. This is not a calculated probability, an identification of an author, a finding of deliberate fraud, or a denial of every possible ancient contribution.

What was actually tested
A fresh builder read complete public-domain Matthew, then froze a design, 30 predicted changes and 16 attempted passages or plans before comparison. The seal is dated September 21, 2026, 06:56:14 UTC. The reviewer subsequently read all 36 TJ chapters, introduction and epilogue, the prior audit, and representative comparisons.
The limitations are material. An initial extraction was abandoned after it exposed commentary; its contaminated predictions were not counted. The replacement used complete KJV Matthew instead of the selected comparison excerpts, planned 28 rather than 36 chapters, and did not produce a complete book. Model pretraining cannot be made demonstrably blind. This is a bounded, retrieval-restricted benchmark, not a successful full reconstruction.
The frozen artifact and hash convention preserve those limitations and the unsuccessful predictions. The full report also distinguishes English translation effects and later editions from evidence of pre-1978 wording.
Matches, misses and genuine strengths

Some Matthew criticisms were genuinely identified outside Deardorff's work. That establishes the origin of a criticism, not independent endorsement of his TJ solution or score. A later scholar's publication date also does not show that an earlier writer could not notice the problem.
Human and AI feasibility
A pre-1978 skilled writer could use notebooks, printed scholarship and repeated revisions. The frozen planning estimate was 800–2,000 person-hours over 6–24 months for its proposed alternative narrative—not a measurement of the actual author or a demonstrated 36-chapter success.
- 2026 AI with Matthew alone: plausible local repairs and sustained themes, but no reliable recovery of obscure criticism or the TJ's distinctive solutions.

The full report gives explicitly speculative defect ranges and labor budgets. No zero-defect result was measured. Modern AI imitation cannot establish a 1970s person's knowledge, resources or authorship; AI failure would not establish human impossibility either.
Money, fame and motive
No identified modern author's confession was found, but this review has no audited financial records proving either profit or its absence. Meier is publicly named as discoverer/editor: lacking a novelist's byline does not rule out reputation by proxy.
Verified absence of profit would weaken a cash-only motive. It would not eliminate ideological, religious, community or experimental motives. Those are possibilities, not allegations. Modern composition and intentional deception are separate claims.
What changes in the PHoax assessment?
The neutral audit's ledger and numerical results remain unchanged. The new examples modestly strengthen its constructibility objection, while the full TJ reading gives greater recognition to the work's connected design.
Many changes can follow from one governing policy, so they are not hundreds of independent coincidences. Neither the extreme original PHoax output nor this small benchmark supplies a calibrated authenticity probability.
Keep four judgments separate: literary sophistication is substantial; direction of dependence is not decided by this test; ancient provenance remains unestablished amid documented modern editing; and extraordinary historical claims are not verified by narrative coherence.
Which text for practical guidance?
Both with critical controls, giving Matthew greater weight for interpersonal ethics. Matthew's enemy-love, mercy and care for vulnerable people are important resources. Its punitive and collective rhetoric should not be adopted uncritically.
The TJ offers useful lessons about preparation, learning from mistakes, examining a teacher's claims and non-coercive teaching. Reject coercive sexual penalties, inherited collective blame and the assumption that asserted natural law automatically makes a policy just. Neither text should be treated as an infallible practical authority.
What would change the result?
The strongest next steps are a complete dated collation of the 1978 and later editions, independent provenance evidence, verification of scholarly citations, and a genuinely complete 36-chapter construction trial with held-out problems and blinded raters. An authenticated ancient TJ-specific witness would matter far more than another plausible editorial motive.
